To all Crescent Beach Photo Club members—–
Good afternoon everyone—-I have attached a document about our clubs first photo walk of the season, that is coming up next Thursday (not this week but next) September 3rd at 9:00am in the morning—(best time to shoot flowers)—-but below is the same as the document—
I am naming Outings—Photo Walks—as that is what they will be for the next few months and I am starting off our first Photo Walk for the beginning of September—a new season:.
The photo walks will all take place outside in the fresh air—we can wear masks, we can respect social distancing and split ourselves up into smaller groups and enjoy a common theme.
The first one will be Dunsmuir Gardens at Crescent Beach—–See you there—see below—
12345 Sullivan Street
DATE: Thursday morning September 3rd
TIME: 9:00 am
MEET: 9:00am at the gate entrance to Dunsmuir Gardens off of Sullivan Street and Crescent Road—
If you don’t see anyone then continue down the lane we will be in the actual gardens—
For those who haven’t been to the gardens before, I would suggest parking across the road beside the railway tracks—just before the turn onto Sullivan at Crescent Beach—-(you do have to walk in)—or anywhere on the road around the Sunflower Cafe-Dunsmuir Gardens are down the little lane on the corner of Sullivan—there is a rowboat full of flowers at the gate entrance—the gate is always locked, only gardeners have the keys—(we will meet at this gate)-you can then walk in between the gate posts and down the laneway to the gardens entrance—-
Please respect the gardens and gardeners—-
I would suggest bringing tripods—maybe ND. filters/ polarisers/ for your lenses and large lenses—my Facebook posts of the blooms was with my 70-300 lens—but I have also used a 200 lens and or a macro—-bring a little spray bottle of water to spritz the blooms—water droplets!!!! Water is harmless—Please don’t bring glycerine or an oily spray or we will be in trouble—-Reflectors might also be a good idea if you have one—
For those of you who think, well what do I do with photographs of flowers—I am attaching a link to a flower photographer—-after seeing her images you will no longer ask that question and will be inspired—I suggest you cruise her images before coming—her name is Magda Indigo and she is on Flickr and 500 px as well as this website below-
At the first outing I will announce where you can post your photo walk images —we may have to decide on a certain number for each person —and I suspect it may be to our CBPC website—-but also remember we have a CBPC Facebook page and our Flickr site also—–this way we can all share and see each other’s images even though we are not meeting at Camp Alexander.
Also remember that there will be a monthly theme, led by Mike Strong and Capa competitions/led by Derek Hayes and also Lions Gate and the North Shore and all the outside competitions/led by Rob Donaldson—so some of your photo walk images could be used for any of them.
You will be able to read about some of the changes to the club in the newsletter that Rob Donaldson—-a follow up to that is that Camp Alexander welcome us back to our meeting hall, whenever it is deemed safe to do so—they miss us and value all the years that we have been using their facility’s—–and so—one day—who knows when!!!!
I wish you all good health—-it will be lovely to meet up once again and we will work through this month by month together.
