SIZING IMAGES FOR DIGITAL SLIDE PROJECTION
Use the ‘save’ or ‘save as’ feature to save and archive your image for
longterm storage. Now convert your image for slide projection.
1. Check the documentation on your image that it is an 8 bit RGB file.
2. Check that your image color-space is in fact sRGB. If it is not, in
Photoshop go: Edit > Convert to Profile > Destination Space
Profile: Working RGB - sRGB IEC61966 - 2.1.
3. You are now ready to downsize your image. Go: Image > Image Size >
in the boxes at the bottom, put a check in: Constrain Proportions and
Resample Image. In the drop down list, select ‘Bicubic Sharpen.’ (This
should allow the image to maintain its sharpness that you applied when
doing your work-flow). Disregard the data in the middle under Document
Size. This is only a concern if you are making a print of your image. Under
Pixel Dimensions: for horizontal format images, enter 1024 pixels in the
Width box. Check that the height does not exceed 768 pixels. If it does,
enter 768 on the Height box. (If this is the case, the Width will now be
something less then 1024). If your image is a vertical format, under Pixel
Dimensions, enter 768 in the Height box.
4. Ensure the file name of the image is kept short, uncluttered of your filing
information and is identical to the title submitted for the image. If the
image is not named, then the file name and title should be listed as
‘unnamed #1’ for example..
5. Save your image, go > File > Save As > in the Format drop down list
select > JPEG and click OK. The JPEG Options will now appear. Move the
Quality Slider to 12 Maximum. Click OK.
