The problem of sending images between Mac and PC user's Email programs has cropped

up so many times that I did some research into it.  I have a solution for Mac Users that

are using the Mac Mail program for sending email.  There seems to be a small bug in the

Mac Mail program that does not send images properly with the default message format of

Mail.  I have not checked the many third party mail programs although the problem does

not occur with Microsoft Entourage (part of Office for the Mac)

Mail defaults to sending messages as "Rich Text" documents.  In this format the images

are imbedded in the message, (no matter how you insert the image Drag and Drop or the

Attachment button).  Right clicking the image on a PC results in a long string of gibberish

and not the image.

If you use the attachment button be sure that the image size box in the bottom right hand

side of the message window says "Actual size" or your images will be send small size.

The solution is quite simple but took some Googling and experimenting to find.

On the Mac Mail program, go to the Preferences, it is under the Mail menu. Under the

Composing  tab select the Message Format as Plain Text.  Close the preferences.  That is

it.

This change does not seem to change the way the Mac sees the file so should not hurt

when you send images to Mac users.

On the PC, the user will be able to right click the image and save or go to the Attachment

paperclip and save the files.

The Box to change is shown in this image, circled in red.
